Welcome to: Leonardo Da Vinci Biodiversity

Research, develop, and explore your own ideas for assisting your local community

Think Globally, Act Locally

Victor, Erick, Agnes, Francis, Sharon, and Enos the founding members of the Chula Rusinga Biodiversity Project,
started this project to educate locals on conservation and work on water resources for schools and nutrition development.

Taking my Leonardo Da Vinci biodiversity concept as a foundation, the members, Victor, Erick, Agnes, Francis, Sharon, and Enos, developed their own tools to engage and raise awareness within their communities.

I'm amazed by what they have achieved so far; bringing together communities and schools to plant trees and maintain protected areas as part of Victor's Green Program.

How do get involved?

As difficult as it may seem, financial support is crucial. However, it is not the only factor. I believe that information should be shared, shared, and shared again.

Share this link: Chula Rusinga Biodiversity Project as often as you can, so that they receive the most support, either financially or in the form of technical assistance.

Research has shown that long-term goals are best attained when local people are included in projects or are given the opportunity to design their own projects. Locals know their regions and their needs best.

Rusinga Island is located in the eastern part of Lake Victoria at the mouth of the Winam Gulf. Part of Kenya, it is linked to Mbita Point on the mainland by a causeway. Rusinga Island is a bird paradise with some 369 species of local and migratory birds, many not found anywhere else in Kenya.

I was present at the first meeting in 2020, witnessed the development of the
project's name, and saw the handwritten notes of the founders. What an adventure!
